The two mugs demonstrate a contrast between man made, and natural forms. The smooth green mug represents nature and the greenery around it through the use of natural forms and smooth finishes. While the contrasting red mug is faceted and has rough texture to showcase “human made” elements. The deep red and black represent almost destruction of nature, enveloping the green on the bottom. The mug showcases its imperfections to further push the idea of “human made”, while the green mug is flawless in form to showcase the beauty in nature. When drinking from the cups, the green one flows out like normal, being allowed to drink from any side of the cup for the same experience, while the “human made” mug only allowing you to drink from two sides, the mug is formed in such a way that the user will not be able to drink comfortably from the mug unless from those two sides, showing the limiting nature of man.
